Join Marc Beaudoin and divulge your senses and gain valuable wine knowledge. We are offering a 10 class series which you will learn about different wines from all different regions along with tastings, food pairings, fortified wine, and basic wine knowledge. We will end with a blind test to put all you have learned to the test (and for some fun)!
Wine basics/Grape Varietals/Wine Labels~March 30 ~
A wine 101, if you will, explaining glassware, how to learn your way around a label, proper tasting techniques and common grape varietals.
New World versus Old World
Compare the vastly different styles of wine making from those with a passion for tradition and those with an eye for innovation.
A primer (and more) on the French national pastime; learn the regions, grapes and food as well as a bit of French culture.
Understand the appellation system of a country with over 100 different unique varietals, and how the landscape dictates the flavors of each bottle of wine.
The always intriguing Iberian peninsula offers an edgy historic world of food and wine. Explore this sun-drenched cultural farmland from the safety of your wineglass.
Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Hungary)
We'll delve into the lesser known (but vitally important) various wine producers of Europe. Experiment with hard to find wines and impress your friends!
Of course, we know a thing or two about wine here in the states, join us as we roll through wine making in our homeland, from the California cost, Oregon, Washington and beyond!
The often overlooked fortified wines deliver depth and weight in a smaller portion. See what you've been missing.
Wine and Food Pairings
Wondering, What could I serve with a fish fry? Or Braunschweiger? We'll show how to match any dish you may come up against, and why multiple wines can go with the same foods, as well as getting to try some food from the Braise kitchen. Always a crowd favorite!
Blind Tasting (Put your knowledge to the test)
Ready for the big leagues? Or just want to try? Pool all of your knowledge into this final class of the series and be ready to defend your answer!
Classes are held at Braise Culinary School, located at Braise Restaurant, 1101 S. 2nd Street, Milwaukee, WI.
